Terms of Service

Last Updated: July 28, 2026
⚠️ CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING

Scuba Safe is an educational tool only. It must NOT be used as a primary life-support planning device. Scuba diving involves significant risks, including decompression sickness, oxygen toxicity, and drowning. Always use certified dive computers and official tables for actual dive planning.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Scuba Safe (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Educational Use Only

The calculations, maps, and weather data provided by Scuba Safe are for educational and simulation purposes only. While we strive to adhere to standard algorithms (such as PADI/SSI RDP tables), software errors can occur. You agree that:

  • You will not rely on this Service for real-world underwater navigation or decompression planning.
  • You possess the necessary certification from a recognized agency (e.g., PADI, SSI, NAUI) before engaging in scuba diving activities.
  • You are solely responsible for your own safety and dive profile management.

3. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. Scuba Safe makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of the dive tables, weather data, or location coordinates provided.

We expressly disclaim any liability for personal injury, death, or property damage resulting from the use or misuse of this Service.

4. Map and Weather Data

Our "Explorer" feature utilizes third-party APIs and services (such as OpenStreetMap, Overpass API, Photon, Open-Meteo, RainViewer, Wikipedia, Esri World Imagery, and optionally Firebase) to provide location, weather, satellite imagery, and community-submission functionality.

  • Location coordinates for dive sites may be inaccurate or outdated.
  • Weather and marine forecasts are predictions and may differ from actual conditions.
  • User-submitted dive sites may be incomplete, inaccurate, duplicated, or outdated even after review. Community data must be independently verified before use.
  • Always verify local conditions and regulations with local dive shops or authorities.

5. Community Content and Moderation

You retain responsibility for reviews, site edits, reports, photos, and other content you submit. You grant Scuba Safe permission to host, reproduce, resize, display, edit for formatting, moderate, reject, remove, or revert that content as needed to operate Explorer. This permission is non-exclusive and limited to operating and promoting Scuba Safe.

You are responsible for maintaining control of your account and for the accuracy of plans and logbook entries you save. A saved plan or log is a personal record and does not replace training, official tables, a dive computer, professional instruction, or real-time site evaluation.

Only submit photos you created or have permission to share. Do not submit unlawful, misleading, private, infringing, unsafe, or abusive material. Photos are not public until approved, and approval does not verify their accuracy, date, ownership, or safety information. Scuba Safe may remove community content at any time.

6. Agency Names and Third-Party Materials

PADI, SSI, OpenStreetMap, and other third-party names and materials belong to their respective owners. Scuba Safe is an independent project and is not sponsored, endorsed, or certified by those organizations.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scuba Safe and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.

8. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Your continued use of the Service following any changes signifies your acceptance of the new terms.

9. Contact Us
